The Futures Program is an intensive one-day learning experience designed to expose residents, fellows and advanced practitioners to the numerous career opportunities available in post-acute/long-term care (PA/LTC). Since the program began in 2001, over 900 practitioners have received the prestigious Futures Program award. Dr. Daniel Swagerty, ADGAP Member, past chair of the Foundation for PA/LTC Medicine, and the chair of Geriatric Medicine at Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright State University, is encouraging ADGAP members to facilitate the attendance of your residents and fellows in the Futures Program to help foster an understanding of and interest in post-acute & long-term care practice.
This highly sought program has a limited number of spaces available. Recipients of the award will receive: 3-day registration to AMDA-The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine Annual Conference 2018, March 22-25, 2018 in Grapevine, TX; complimentary Society membership for one year that includes a monthly subscription to the JAMDA and special follow-up and discounts to AMDA products and education for 5-years following their acceptance into the program. Additionally, we provide networking opportunities that matches Futures participants with medical directors that can assist them as they begin their career.
If your residents or fellows successfully seek a Futures Award, please consider providing them with financial assistance to cover airfare and lodging expenses. The Foundation staff will be happy to pair attendees with roommates from among Futures Award winners to reduce hotel expenses.
Program information, including the online application for the 2018 program, is available and I urge you to encourage your residents and fellows to apply for the award. The application deadline is November 17, 2017.
