ERAS

Geriatric Medicine fellowship programs participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) , since Specialty Matches conducted by the NRMP do not provide centralized services for the application process. ¬†ERAS, a service developed by the AAMC, transmits application materials via the Internet to programs in residency and selected fellowship specialties. Candidates must apply to the Geriatric Medicine programs of their choice using ERAS. Program directors review candidates’ credentials and, if interested, invite them for interviews.¬† Applicants also are responsible for ensuring that they meet all program prerequisites and institutional policies regarding eligibility for appointment to a fellowship position prior to ranking a program through the NRMP.

Applicants who have not completed prerequisite training in an accredited ACGME program in the U.S., or a similar program in Canada accredited by the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, must be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

If your program currently does not use the ERAS program, we suggest visiting the ERAS website and completing a New Program Submission Form.

Setting Up Your Institutional Web Page

ERAS provides a webpage for each institution based on information it receives through the institution’s ERAS application. The page includes specific application requirements, contact information and other general information. All applicants will need to visit your institution’s webpage in order to apply to your program therefore we encourage programs to review your ERAS application to verify that all the information provided is correct. If you have changes, please log into ERAS Account Maintenance and make revisions.
